Budhathum Visit from April 10-17, 2019
In early April 2019, three Alaya Foundation members (Suzanne Morneau, Linda Fortier, Martine Breuillaud) and four donors (Raymonde Paiement, Solange Ouimet, France Hétu and Jean-Pierre St –Laurent) who wished to discover the village gathered in Kathmandu.
This was the opportunity for our people to live in total immersion in a host family for a week, help with daily duties (collecting water, grinding grain, etc.) and participate in the village’s activities: visit of different Budhathum areas, cleaning of the Community Center for its grand opening, meeting with the director of primary and secondary school. Activities with the children and delivery of supplies to the teacher. Delivery and assembly of sewing machines, meeting with the seamstress in charge of training.
A picnic was organized by the Budhathum Welfare Society and the Village Women’s Association. Nearly 125 people were present for this day made up of sharing, joy and gratitude, especially for the trust we have all placed in each other. It was also an opportunity to celebrate the New Year on April 14, 2076 (Nepalese calendar).
All our visitors-donors were very open-minded, caring, available and generous during their week; the videos produced by Jean-Pierre St-Laurent demonstrate it well. You can view those videos on our website as well as on the Alaya Foundation’s Facebook page.
